Why Doesn’t Seth Godin Follow A Single Person On Twitter?
I love listening to Seth Godin.
He has powerful insights into most things Marketing and community related.
But why doesn’t he follow anyone on Twitter?
Does he already have ALL the answers? And so doesn’t need to know what other people think?
Perhaps he doesn’t want to send traffic or recognition to anyone else?
Is it because he just doesn’t have time to use the platform as it has been designed?
Or maybe he genuinely doesn’t think anyone who uses it is worth listening to?
I don’t know.
What do you think?

He uses it like an rss feed. Not for communication, connection and the like.

Jecklin’ is right. Twitter is just a backlink for Seth. I have tried to @reply to a few of his posts, but obviously he isn’t seeing nor responding to them.

Maybe because it’s a freakin’ waste of time.

Kevin a few months ago I would have agreed with you - but - the quality of twitter updates if you follow the right people is astounding. You get breaking news, links to useful software and information, and more. It’s basically a free news membership site with constant updates.

I’ve noticed that Seth does not allow comments on most of his blog space as well as not following twits. There is something important about being able to speak with a real voice, and since a million of use would like to have his feedback, the best answer for him is to stay out of that area. Sure he can hire people to answer for him, but that is not him. And it is not like Seth to do things like the rest of us.
Meatball Sundae anyone?

Right away I thought “If Seth did use twitter, he’d use a pseudonym and only use his name as a one-way channel”. Then I thought about it, and doubt he even knows how twitter works. He has someone do it for him, I bet.
A key is not to waste time on things that don’t pay back… like twitter. Once in a while hit it, but then stick to what matters. They all do it that way… only spending time when they need to (hob knob with the rich and famous, but no one else).
The truly engaged can see further down the line that the promoters and book publishers. They often arm the promoters and book publishers with tools to achieve agendas, rather than assume the spotlight themselves.

That is so selfish to do Mr. Godin! Gosh, I cannot believe that Seth Godin is not following anyone on Twitter. I follow him, you follow him… we all follow him - but he doesn’t follow us!
